Computer's sound gone: What to do?

Sometimes it happens with many computer users that sound of the computer is gone. Your computer goes mute. There are various cases that makes your computer mute. Computer related problems are of two types one is software related and second is hardware related problem. So, to solve sound related problem of your computer firstly you need to diagnose weather it is software problem or hardware problem of your computer and then take further steps. If we discuses about the hardware part sound is made possible with the help of speakers but inside the computer it is made possible with sound card. And if we talk about the software problem it deals with program named Audio Driver to control the sound card output. But you need not to worry, solution of these problems are very simple and you can get back the sound of your computer.

Causes and there solution:

Accidentally Muted Audio Output:

We are two sisters, me n my younger one. I have much knowledge about computer system but my littile sister has very less knowledge about computers. What happens is that one time  she uses my computer, she accidentally mutes the sound by clicking on the desktop sound icon and sound of my computer is gone. If the same problem is happening with you don't worry solution is there.

Solution: If you are  Windows XP or Windows Vista user then click on the speaker icon on your tool bar below and see to it, that the audio is 'unmuted' and there is no cross on the speaker symbol. That should restore sound of your computer.

Sound Card Driver Problem:

If speaker of your computer is working fine then you need to check the audio output port of your computer. You can it by directly connecting the headset with the audio output port of the sound card and test it. If there is no sound, you may have a problem with the sound driver software. Check the sound devices and their drivers installed through 'Control Panel'.

Solution: A very simple solution of this problem is to re-install audio driver through the appropriate installation CD. By doing this sound of your computer is came back immidiately.

Sound Card Hardware Failure:

If you have reinstalled the audio drivers again and still there is no sound, then you have a serious problem on 'cards'. Chances are that your sound card has quit on you. To check that, you may have to consult a computer technician. 

Solution: You will have to install a new sound card. Make sure that the sound card is compatible with the motherboard of your computer. A new sound card will surely bring back sound.
